2012 Summer Camps!
Camp Shakespeare and Midsummer Faerie Camp give school-aged kids a creative way to spend the summer!
Camp Shakespeare 8 to 14 yrs. Mon – Fri 9:30am to 2:30pm
July 16 – July 27 and July 30, on the LGSF Stage in Oak Meadow Park $300
This unique camp experience is for kids aged 8-14 who want to discover theatre through the works of one of the greatest writers in the English language. Students will learn about what it was like in William Shakespeare’s time–as an actor, as a kid, and in everyday life. We’ll also use Shakespeare’s plays and characters as a springboard into the wonderful world of acting. Students will gain confidence, learn to express themselves, and experience working as a team through dramatic games, creative movement and voice exercises, and classical scenework. The camp will culminate with a performance of a medley of Shakespeare’s work performed by the kids on the Los Gatos Shakespeare Festival’s stage in Oak Meadow Park. An evening performance will be held on July 30st at 7pm
Midsummer Faerie Camp 5 yrs to entering 4th grade
Mon – Fri. 10am to 1pm June 25th through June 29th Loose Hall (550 Hubbell Way, LG) $110
Young girls will learn to draw upon the magic within themselves and spread beauty and kindness to others. Working together with their Faerie Mentors, they will create costumes and transform the camp area into a fanciful glen perfect for creative exploration. The girls will also sing, compose poetry, keep journals and role play to develop positive self-esteem, confidence and compassion. This camp concludes with a Faerie Tea prepared by our faeries who will attend in the costumes, and recite the poetry, they have created during the week.
Midsummer Faerie Camp (Mentors) Entering 5th through 8th grades
Mon – Fri. 9am to 1pm June 25th through June 29th Loose Hall (550 Hubbell Way, LG) $110
Older girls will learn to draw upon the magic within themselves to spread kindness and wisdom to others. Faerie Mentors will spend 1.5 hours each morning with our Head Faerie to help plan the day’s activities and will be paired with the younger girls when they arrive. Mentors will develop their self-esteem, assertiveness and compassion as they serve as role models for the younger girls. This camp concludes with a Faerie Tea prepared by our faeries who will attend in the costumes, and recite poetry, they have created during the week.
