2013 Summer Camps!
Camp Shakespeare and Midsummer Faerie Camp give school-aged kids a creative way to spend the summer!
Camp Shakespeare 8 to 14 yrs. Mon – Fri 9:30am to 2:30pm
July 15 – July 26 and Jul 29 on the LGSF Stage in Oak Meadow Park $300
This unique camp experience is for kids aged 8-14 who want to discover theatre through the works of one of the greatest writers in the English language. Students learn what it was like in William Shakespeare’s time–as an actor, as a kid, and in everyday life. They use Shakespeare’s plays and characters as a springboard into the world of acting. Students gain confidence, learn to express themselves, and experience working as a team through dramatic games, creative movement, voice exercises, and classical scenework. The camp culminates with a performance of a medley of Shakespeare scenes performed by the students on the festival stage in Oak Meadow Park.
An evening performance will be held on July 29th at 7pm
Thank you Kiwanis Club of Los Gatos for sponsoring Camp Shakes since 2007!
Midsummer Faerie Camp 5 yrs to entering 4th grade
Mon – Fri. 10am to 1pm June 24th through June 28th (Los Gatos location TBD) $110
Young girls learn to draw upon the magic within themselves and spread beauty and kindness to others. Working with Faerie Mentors, they create costumes and transform the camp area into a fanciful glen. The girls sing, compose poetry, keep journals and role play to develop self-esteem, confidence and compassion. Camp concludes with a Faerie Tea prepared by our faeries, who attend in costume and recite poems they have created during the week.
Midsummer Faerie Camp (Mentors) Entering 5th through 8th grades
Mon – Fri. 9am to 1pm June 24th through June 28th (Los Gatos location TBD) $110
Older girls draw upon the magic within themselves to spread kindness and wisdom to others. Faerie Mentors spend 1.5 hours each morning with our Head Faerie to help plan the day’s activities, and are paired with the younger girls when they arrive. Mentors develop their self-esteem, assertiveness and compassion serving as role models for the younger girls. Camp concludes with a Faerie Tea prepared by our faeries, who attend in costume, and recite poems they have created during the week.
